At a time when every other advert on television is asking you if you had an accident and would you like to make a claim, what role does workwear have to play in employers discharging their responsibility in the workplace? The “where there’s blame there’s a claim” culture has certainly focused the minds of employers during recent times. Many companies now take workwear and PPE (personal protective equipment), such as hi vis clothing very seriously. They understand the importance of making sure all employees are as safe as possible in the workplace and this includes ensuring they are dressed appropriately for the tasks they are required to perform.
One area that is of utmost concern is the possible transference of infections by uniform. The government, through the department of health have produced a guidance document entitled “Uniforms and Workwear - An evidence base for developing local policy” This policy is aimed mainly at the NHS but could conceivably cover a number of workplaces. In the document it sets out the legal framework which is applicable, this includes the health and safety at work act 1974 and the control of substances hazardous to health regulations 2002. It then proceeds to draw conclusion for employers based around the working group, expert opinion, literature reviews and scientific study.
The conclusion for employers includes, that the public believe there is a risk and that a ten minute wash at 60 degrees is sufficient to remove most micro-organisms. This is one of the reasons that many workwear garments are capable of been washed at higher temperatures of up to 60 degrees. Today we have gone live with our new JKL Clothing website, which has been hard work but a brilliant experience.
Our
old website worked very well for us and has helped us to grow as a
business. We have listened to feedback from you the customer, which we
do thank you for and hopefully this will show in how our site has
changed for the better.
We have strived to ensure the site is
much more user friendly. To this end you can find products firstly
under departments, then you can quickly specify a brand and product
type to find exactly what you need. You asked for more workwear and
corporate clothing, and we have responded giving much more choice in
our clothing ranges.
As always we strive for quality and so we have all the top workwear brands including CAT, Dickies, Mascot, Panoply, Portwest, PROJOB, Snickers and the list of work wear manafacturers is ever growing.

Skopes and just like our workwear, more will be on board shortly.
Expansion of our clothing ranges doesnt end there though, we have added more healthcare and medical clothing, more beauty and salonwear, and increased the items in our chef’s clothing and catering clothing, as well as bar and hospitality clothing.
And lets not forget we still offer our bespoke embroidery services, for those who need some specialist embroidered workwear or embroidered clothing, as well as our quality t-shirt printing services (well we print more than just t-shirts, so lets say printed clothing services).
All
these changes and more are to help make your shopping experience with
us more enjoyable and easier, giving competitive prices and much more
choice. But it’s not all change, we have ensure that high quality
customer service is still provided to the highest standards and that we
won’t ever be changing (unless we can find ways to set our bars even
higher).

Organic Exchange has published a report about the increase in demands for organic cotton. It shows a large increased in both sales and production. The report identified that the amount of organic cotton that is globally produced, rose in 2005/2006 to 2006/2007 by 53%. It also reports that the global organic cotton demands will see much larger jumps through 2008. these forecasts are predicted to be between 25% and 55% during the next 12 months. The company’s latest research shows the leading countries been, China, India and Turkey, with nearly half (44.9%) being grown in the Middle East.

I am constantly amazed by the power of the internet. Here at JKL Clothing we have adapted our business plan over the last 2 years to such an extent that our main marketing focus is now our website and optimising it to comply with the major search engines such as google and yahoo.
That said, we have invested heavily in our back end system so that the service our customers receive is of the highest possible standard. We have also vastly improved our t-shirt printing and embroidery services. We now aim to provide t-shirt printing and embroidery quotes within 24 hours so that our customers have all the information available to make their buying decision. JKL Clothing’s product range has also been improved so that we now offer over 2000 garments and promotional items.
Recently added ranges include Portwest Workwear Clothing, Clubclass Corporate Clothing and Cherokee Medical Scrubs. These ranges will add further value to our business and make us one of the market leaders as a one stop garment supplier.
I am always monitoring our competitors to see what the competition is up to and making sure we are as competitive within the market place as possible. I think we achieve this, our prices are keen but what I believe really sets us apart from the rest is our customer service. JKL Clothing’s clients receive a highly personable service. Vicky overseas our Screen-printing service and Mark is responsible for our Embroidery customers.
